Mahmoud Lamadanie is GSU’s Executive Associate Vice President leading the Center for International Affairs & Programs. He serves as a member of the president’s executive cabinet and reports directly to the president. In addition to his international responsibilities, the EAVP also assists the university leadership in the areas of Student Affairs and Enrollment Management. The EAVP is responsible for providing vision and leadership for all aspects of the university's internationalization initiatives, supporting GSU’s strategic international agenda, and implementing campus wide international studies & programs to enhance global understanding. He has oversight over all international budgets and revenue generating global governmental and private partnerships & exchange agreements, including leveraged scholarship arrangements with foreign partners. The EAVP is the chief cabinet level official supervising program quality, international relations, and immigration regulations compliance with the US Department of Homeland Security.
Our international student enrollment portfolio is expected to reach more than 500 in fall 2008. This is an historical record achieved in less than 4 years under the leadership of President Judson. Our international students come from more than 48 countries such as Armenia, Belarus ,Belize, Bulgaria, Burma, Burundi, Burkina Faso, Cambodia, Cameroon, Canada, China, Dominica, Ecuador, France, Germany, Ghana, Guinea, Jamaica, Kenya, Mexico, Moldova, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Kuwait, Lebanon, Nepal, Niger, Nigeria, Poland, Romania, Russia, Rwanda, Jordan, Saudi Arabia, South Africa, St. Kitts and Nevis, St. Lucia, Syria, Sri Lanka, Taiwan, India, Tanzania, Thailand, Trinidad and Tobago, Turkey, Uganda, United Arab Emirates, Vietnam, Zambia, and Zimbabwe.
The EAVP hopes to raise global awareness & cross cultural sensitivity in Grambling State University by providing a wide array of international studies and outreach programs. Our goal is to create a global classroom learning environment in order to augment GSU’s renowned position in the global community as a world class university making the world a friendlier place. We are striving to make GSU a globally competitive campus that embraces diversity and produces graduates that can function successfully in a knowledge-based globally interconnected economy. We provide global partnerships that provide access to international students and scholars from all over the world to study and teach at GSU while maintaining high standards and quality living and learning in an international environment.
Albert Einstein commented once that: “The significant problems we face can not be solved at the same level of thinking we were at when we created them.” International programs at GSU hope to create a campus without borders that would elevate the human compassion by creating better understanding that is based on mutual respect and appreciation of other cultures. We are one humanity that must live and coexist with other countries in peace and harmony on this wonderful planet!
