Applying for Financial Aid is Easy at GSU.

Steps for timely completion of the 2008-2009 Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) and aid to be posted prior to August 1, 2008
For freshmen, transfer and former students.
- Step 1 - Confirm admission acceptance with the Admissions
Office (1-888-863-3655). Transfer and former students must submit academic
transcripts from all schools attended to determine satisfactory academic
progress (SAP) status.
- Step 2 - Complete the 2008-2009 FAFSA
on the Web www.fafsa.ed.gov by the
priority deadline of April
1, 2008 using your PIN # and your parent’s PIN # for dependent
students. Go to: www.pin.ed.gov to
apply for a pin # or if you do not remember your pin #. Grambling
State University (federal code 002006) must be listed as one
of the schools.
- Step 3 - Receive and review the Student Aid Report
(SAR) from the federal processor. This is the official record to confirm
receipt of your FAFSA by the federal processor. Read the comments to know
if your FAFSA has been selected for the verification process. Call the
federal processor (1-800-433-3243) if the SAR is not received within 2
weeks of filing the FAFSA.
- Step 4 - Go to the university website at: www.gram.edu
select prospective students, financial aid, financial aid instructions,
then go to: https://ssb.gram.edu:9000/
to check the status of your federal financial aid application and outstanding
document requirements prior to June 1, 2008.
- Step 5 - Dependent students, encourage your parent
to go online at: www.opennet.salliemae.com
or call 1-800-891-1410 to apply for a Parent Plus Loan and obtain a credit
decision. Contact the Financial Aid Office after receiving a credit decision.
- Step 6 - If aid awarded is not sufficient to cover
your charges, you may consider non-federal options: Cash/Credit Card,
or Private Loans (SallieMae: 1-800-695-3317 or Chase: 1-866-661-5165 or
any other lender of your choice), or the university Payment Plan at the
university website, click e-cashier
- Step 7 - 7. Go to: www.gram.edu select prospective students, registration to view and complete the 2008 Fall registration procedures.
Failure to complete the above steps will cause a delay in determining
your financial aid.

For returning students.
- Step 1 - Complete the 2008-2009 Renewal FAFSA on the
Web at: www.fafsa.ed.gov by the priority deadline of April 1, 2008 using
your PIN # and your parent’s PIN # for dependent students. Go to:
www.pin.ed.gov if you do not remember your PIN #. Grambling State University
(federal code 002006) must be listed as one of the schools.

the 2008 spring semester. Schedule an appointment with your financial
aid counselor before leaving for the Summer break.
- Step 4 - Dependent students, encourage your parent
to go online at: www.opennet.salliemae.com or call 1-800-891-1410 to apply
for a Parent Plus Loan and obtain a credit decision. Contact the Financial
Aid Office after receiving a credit decision.
- Step 5 - If aid awarded is not sufficient to cover
your charges, consider non-federal funding options: Cash/Credit Card,
or Private Loans (SallieMae: 1-800-695-3317 or Chase: 1-866-306-0868 or
any other lender of your choice), or the university Payment Plan at the
university website, click e-cashier
- Step 6 - Submit by June 6, 2008 unsatisfactory academic
progress (USAP) appeal and supporting documents for possible reinstatement
of lost eligibility. No appeals or supporting documents will be accepted
after July 31, 2008.
- Step 7 - Go on-line at www.gram.edu select current students to view and complete the Fall 2008 registration procedures.
Failure to complete the above steps will cause a delay in determining
your financial aid.
