Reference

The Reference Department is located on the first floor of the library. The print collection is comprised of library resources, which cannot be checked out. It includes dictionaries, encyclopedias, handbooks, indexes, atlases, maps, directories, bibliographies, almanacs, etc.

Print materials are arranged in Dewey Decimal Classification order in Room 153, which contains materials assigned numbers 000-399, and in Room 144, which contains materials assigned numbers 400-999. These resources are identified in the Grambling Online Public Access Catalog (GOPAC/iLINK) as noncirculating.

Some highly used resources are located in the Ready Reference section located behind the Reference Desk in Room 153. A current validated identification card may be required to use resources that are located at the Reference Desk.

The library is a member of LOUIS: The Louisiana Library Network and many indexes can be accessed through this system. Electronic Reference Resources can be accessed from the library's Local Area Network (LAN) on personal computers located throughout the library.
