Funeral services for former GSU computer science
professor set for Friday
Funeral services for Mr. Julius D. Penn, the influential former Director of the Grambling State University Information Resource Center and a GSU professor, will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, June 5, at Gasch's Funeral Home in Hyattsville, Md.
Penn was a part of the Grambling community for many decades. During his tenure at Grambling State University, he established the first computing center that later became the university’s Information Resource Center. He was a dedicated professor who taught computer programming classes and was instrumental in the development of proficient computer programmers around the country.
Mr. Penn’s body can be viewed from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the funeral home located at 4739 Baltimore Ave. Burial will follow at 2 p.m. at Cheltenham Veterans Cemetery, 11301 Craine Highway, Cheltenham, Md. 20623.
