Summer commencement July 25 at GSU
ULS President keynote speaker
GRAMBLING-----The final summer commencement exercises at Grambling State University will be held Friday morning, July 25 at 10 in the university assembly center. 100 plus candidates will be conferred undergraduate and graduate degrees during the historic ceremony.
Dr.
Micheal "Randy" Moffett, President of the University of Louisiana
System, will deliver the keynote address. He was named the seventh president
of the UL System last month-replacing Sally Clausen. Prior to his appointment
as system head, Dr. Moffett served as president at Southeastern Louisiana
University in Hammond for seven years. A dedicated and noted educator, Moffett
shared his knowledge and experiences at Southeastern in several capacities
including Provost and Vice-President for Academic Affairs, Vice-President
for Planning, Research and Development and Dean and Professor in the College
of Education. A native of Jonesboro and former high school classroom teacher
in his home parish, Dr. Moffett received his Bachelor of Arts degree in
Social Studies at Louisiana Tech University, a Master of Education in Student
Personnel Services from Northwestern State University and an Ed.D. in Education
Administration from Louisiana State University.
Due to various construction projects on campus and limited parking, a shuttle service will be provided to the assembly center. The pick-up points will be in the parking lots of Tiger Village student housing which is located at the corner of R.W.E. Jones Dr. and Blalock Street and the corner of R.W.E. Jones Dr. and Stadium/Facilities Dr. Cole Street from R.W.E. Jones and Blalock from College Drive, will be accessible routes to the assembly center.
