Second Statement for the Media Concerning the Demonstration at Alma J. Brown Elementary School on September 20, 2007

Grambling State University’s investigation into the unapproved activity at Alma J. Brown Elementary School on September 20, 2007, involving kindergarten and first grade students will continue for several days. After extensive interviews with University personnel involved in the activity, the University has placed a teacher on administrative leave with pay for the duration of the investigation.

Calling it a “very serious matter,” on Friday GSU President Horace Judson ordered photographs taken during an Alma J. Brown Elementary School Jena Six Rally to be removed from The Gramblinite website and announced a full investigation of the event.

It is regrettable and unfortunate that elementary students were participants in an activity that was inappropriate and showed lack of judgment. Grambling State University is committed to the full protection and safety of all of its students.
