GSU’s Athletic Director J. Lin Dawson to be inducted into African American
Ethnic Sports Hall of Fame (AAESHOF)

GRAMBLING, LA.----On Friday, November 6, 2009, the spotlight will shine on Grambling State University’s Athletic Director J. Lin Dawson when he is inducted into the African American Ethnic Sports Hall of Fame (AAESHOF) which starts at 6 p.m. and the awards program begins at 7 p.m.

J. Lin Dawson attended North Carolina State University where he played football for the Wolfpack from 1977 to 1981. Drafted by the New England Patriots in 1981, he played an integral part in the team’s success as he helped lead the Patriots to the 1985 AFC Championship title and an appearance in Super Bowl XX while playing tight end.

Dawson admits that this is a “humbling experience” and that he is “extremely honored” by the opportunity to be recognized by an organization dedicated to broadening the public’s understanding of the major influence of African American athletes on American sports and society by enriching, enlightening and educating young people while honoring our true heroes.

Dawson and his wife Margo have been married 23 years and have three children: Jamar, Jelyse and Jordan.

Autographed copies of his recently released first book, “Can Anything Good Come from the Hood?” will be available during this event and at the Delta Classic 4 Literacy on Saturday, November 7th at War Memorial Stadium.

Ticket information for this event is available at www.afrosportshall.com or by calling 510-508-3309.
