Dwayne Chambers joins GSU police force as assistant chief

GRAMBLING-----Veteran law enforcement officer Dwayne Chambers has been named the assistant chief of police for the Grambling State University Police Department. Chambers has more than 20 years in law enforcement, spending most of his career in North Carolina.

Chambers started his career with the New York City Department of Investigations as an investigator. He worked at North Carolina A&T University in Greensboro, serving as a sergeant in the police department. Chambers spent more than 18 years with the police department in Burlington, North Carolina. While there, Chambers worked in various capacities including patrol officer, narcotics investigator, detective, special operations officer, community policing officer and school resource officer.

"We are very fortunate to have assistant chief Chambers join our staff with his wealth of experience and knowledge," said Craig Nance, GSU Chief of Police.

A native of Bronx, New York, Chambers received a bachelor's degree in communications from Johnson C. Smith University and a master's degree in business administration from Pfeiffer University – both Charlotte, N.C. universities.
