Complete the ATCP application as well as a Grambling State University graduate admission application. Submit a copy of each of your official transcripts to the Office of Graduate Studies and an official copy to the ATCP Office. Upon receiving your complete application, we will notify you of your acceptance. Sign up and take Praxis II & I. For more information, please visit the www.ets.org.
Definitely! Our program is designed to prepare individuals for the classroom, who have little to no experience in education. Upon completion of our program, you will have acquired the skills necessary to enjoy a fulfilling career as a schoolteacher.
The application deadline for the Summer cohort is March 15th. All-interested candidates MUST take and pass both PRAXIS I & II, before being admitted to ATCP.
After you apply and if you meet the basic requirements for acceptance into the program, you will be invited to commence the interview process. Subsequent to the interview process, you will receive notification of your status with the program. Next steps will also be included for those accepted.
Absolutely! We will assist teachers currently in the school system to become certified.
The estimated total cost for the program will be based on the standard graduate fees set by Grambling State University.
There are several options available and will be dealt on a case-to-case basis.
The high-need areas for our local region are Mathematics and Science. Consider the programs we offer. Choose an area for which you have an appropriate content knowledge background and consider the student age level with which you will enjoy working.
We serve a nine-parish area: Bienville, East Carroll, Caddo, Claiborne, Desoto, Sabine, Union, Winn and Grant. You can certainly seek employment at the schools of your choice, but you should be aware that position openings do not have equally high-demand across all areas of certification.
No, you may not apply to ATCP. If you are interested in adding a certain content area, the helpful staff at ATCP will be ready and willing to offer any advice or information regarding this.
ATCP participants are paid a regular, full-time teacher salary depending on educational district where you will be employed. You will also receive full benefits as outlined by your employing district, including health insurance and retirement benefits.
No, you cannot transfer credits
Yes. If you are employed as a full-time teacher, you may take up to six credit hours during the fall & spring semesters, and up to nine during the summer.
You may take up to six hours per semester during the fall & spring semesters.
