Praxis Laboratory
Services Provided in the Alice Brown Smith Praxis Laboratory
The Praxis Laboratory prepares teacher education candidates and other professionals
seeking alternative certification in teacher education for all areas of the Praxis
exam. In the Praxis lab students have the opportunity to work one-on-one with the
coordinator to review materials for any PRAXIS I exam as well as to address anxiety
issues relative to test-taking. Services provided to candidates are on an as-needed
basis and vary according to each candidate’s skill level. The PLATO software is
used to help students either learn new material or review prior knowledge for the
Praxis 1 Exam. PLATO software also provides practice tests for candidates become
familiar with the actual computer-based test. The practice tests show the coordinator,
professors and candidates where strengths and weaknesses appear prior to test review.
The Praxis Lab is also equipped with various books and paper-based practice materials
for Praxis I and Praxis II Examinations.
