Dr. Carolyn Hester is an Assistant Professor and the Dean of the College of Professional Services.  Dr. Hester holds the BSW, MSW, and Doctor of Philosophy in Social Work from CSWE accredited schools of social work, Southern University, Baton Rouge, LA, University of Kansas, Lawrence, KS, and Jackson State University, Jackson, MS respectively. Prior to this appointment, Dr. Hester was the Associate Dean for the School of Social Work. In the past, she also served in the capacity of MSW Program Director and as Director of Field Education. She joined the faculty in 2009. She has over forty years of direct practice experience including practice internationally.   She is a Licensed Master Social Worker (LMSW-LA, MS, and KS).  Dr. Hester has taught at the university level for several years at the BSW and MSW levels.   She has many years of administrative experience.  Her scholarship is in the area of substance use disorders, and her teaching areas are direct practice and health and mental health.  She is published in the area of disaster response, juvenile delinquency, and mental health related issues
