Dual Enrollment/Early Start



 The Dual Enrollment/Early Start program gives high school students a chance to earn college credit while still working towards their high school diploma.  Students in the Early Start Program often register for courses such as:  Biology 113, Principles of Biology; Biology 114, Principles of Biology II; English 101, English Composition I; English 102, English Composition II.

Application Changes!

  • Louisiana Department of Education has announced the use of Louisiana Connect, an online application process, for high school students participating in dual enrollment/Early Start for the  2012-2013 academic year.  
  • July 25, 2012- eligible students will be able to apply for dual enrollment course work for FALL 2012, via the Louisiana Connect web portal.
  • Students will need to apply via Louisiana Connect to be considered for state funding.
  • ONLY students enrolled in an English, Math, Science, or Social Studies course will be eligible to receive state funding.

Admissions Requirements

All students participating in the Early Start/Dual Enrollment program at Grambling State University must meet the minimum academic, age, and grade level requirements as outlined below.  Grambling State University reserves the right to change or amend the below requirements at any time.

  • Student must be at least 15 years of age
  • Currently enrolled in 11th or 12th grade
  • Must have PLAN or ACT (or SAT) scores on file at Grambling State University
  • PLAN or ACT composite score of 18
  • PLAN or ACT English sub score of 18
  • PLAN or ACT Math sub score of 19
  • Must have a high school cumulative GPA of 2.35
To continue enrollment in subsequent semesters, student must have earned a college grade of A, B, C or P in all attempted college coursework.  Limited, documented exceptions for continuation after withdrawal may be granted by Grambling State University.
