Academic Out-of-State Fee Waiver
Group 1. Academically talented high school students with a 3.00 GPA (4.00 scale) or above who meet three (3) of the following criteria may be eligible for out-of-state fee waiver.
- ACT of 24 and above or SAT of 1090 and above
- Leadership skills in extracurricular activities
- Top 10% of high school graduating class (rank)
- Satisfactory interview with the Admissions Committee.
Group 2. A student who has completed 24 semester hours
of college must meet at least three of the following criteria to be eligible
for out-of-state fee waiver.
- Cumulative and preceding semester, minimum grade point average of 3.0 (4.0 scale)
- GPA that ranks in the upper 10% of students in the same classification (sophomore, junior, and senior)
- Leadership skills in extracurricular activities
- Satisfactory rating in personal interview with the Admissions Committee.
Group 3. A student with high achievement in dance, debate,
music, or theater performance may be granted a waiver if that student’s
performance will improve the educational opportunities of other students.
The student must meet each of the following criteria:
- High achievement in the appropriate performance area
- Cumulative, minimum GPA of 2.5 (4.0 scale) in high school, if applying prior to entering college; or at least 24 semester hours of college work
- Demonstrate leadership
- Receive a satisfactory rating in a personal interview with the Admissions Committee.
Non-academically, a student will qualify regardless of high school or
college GPA (transfer student) if:
- One of the parents (mother or father only) graduated from Grambling State University
- Living with a parent (mother or father) who is currently a Louisiana resident
- Parent is a current member of the armed forces and home of record is Louisiana
- Student receives an associate or higher degree from GSU and submits proof to the Admissions Office.
IN-STATE RESIDENCY REQUIREMENTS
(Effective May 1, 2008)
For tuition purposes, new students from other states (U.S. citizens) may be considered residents of Louisiana when registering for admittance to Grambling State University provided they satisfy the following minimum criteria:
- Students must first satisfy the admission requirements of the institution.
- Additional minimum admission criteria include
First-time freshmen (with under 12 credits of college level work):
a) ACT of 17 (or SAT of 820) and cumulative HS GPA of 2.5, or
b) ACT of 18 (or SAT of 860) and cumulative HS GPA of 2.3, or
c) ACT of 19 (or SAT of 900) and cumulative HS GPA of 2.0.Transfer students (who have completed at least 12 credits of college level work):
a) Cumulative GPA of 2.5 on college level work, and
b) Have no need for developmental course work, and
c) Be eligible to return to previous institution.Students must be enrolled as full-time students (12 semester credits hours) to be eligible to continue this
resident fee status.
- Students may remain eligible to retain the waiver as long as they maintain
satisfactory academic progress as
defined by Grambling State University.
