The University attempts to assist qualified students who can not afford to attend Grambling State University. In order to be eligible for financial aid, a student must:
- Apply for and be accepted for admission to Grambling State University
- Complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) and mail to the federal processor.
- The office of Student Financial Assistance does not input FAFSAs for applicants.

FAFSA on the Web is a free U.S. Department of Education Web site where you
can complete a FAFSA online and submit it via the Internet. You can use
FAFSA on the Web on a personal computer (PC) or a Macintosh that is equipped
with the appropriate version of Netscape. The address for the site is: www.fafsa.ed.gov
Complete by June 1 of each year and turn into the Office of Student Financial Assistance the following documents:
- Financial Aid Data Form
- Stafford loan application if the student is applying for loan.
- PLUS loan application if the parent is applying for a loan for the student.
- If selected for verification, a copy of the student's and/or parent's tax return (1040, 1040A, or 1040EZ) and a verification worksheet.
- Transfer students and returning students who have attended another university prior to returning to GSU, must submit an academic transcript to the Office of Student Financial Assistance. This transcript will be reviewed for Satisfactory Academic Progress (SAP). All transfer students must meet Grambling State's SAP standards on the last's year's enrollment to receive financial aid.
