Any student not attending school for one regular semester, excluding summer sessions, must reapply for admission. The readmission application and other required items must be submitted to the Office of Admissions. Items needed in order to be readmitted are:
- Application for admission (completed and signed)
- Application fee of $20.00
- Official transcript from accredited college(s) attended while absent from Grambling State University
- Proof of Immunization
Note: You must provide proof of immunization even though you attended Grambling State University previously. Please contact the Foster-Johnson Health Center if you have questions.
ADMISSION AS AN ADULT, NON-TRADITIONAL STUDENTAs an institution that uses standards for admission, the University applies its criteria to all persons who seek admission. Degree-seeking applicants who are 25 years of age or older and who seek admission must meet the same criteria for admission as applicants who are in their senior year of high school. Those who do not meet the criteria should attend a community college and seek admission as a transfer applicant. An applicant who is 25 years of age or older and who does not meet the criteria for admission may request to demonstrate preparation for college work by taking and passing the Freshman College Composition and College Algebra examinations of the College-Level Examination Program, and by making a composite score of at least 20 on the ACT.
RIGHT TO APPEALAny prospective new student who is denied admission to Grambling State University has the right to appeal the decision by writing to the Admissions Appeal Committee – 403 Main Street, Box 4200 - Grambling, LA 71245.
New Freshman Applicants: A letter of appeal from the applicant and two (2) letters of recommendation from the principal, teacher or counselor must be submitted to the Admissions Appeal Committee. The prospective student will be notified of the decision by mail.
Transfer Applicants: A letter of appeal from the applicant and two (2) letters of recommendation from an official at the school previously attended must be submitted to the Admissions Appeal Committee. The prospective student will be notified of the decision by mail.
All decisions of the Admissions Appeal Committee are final.
