First-Time Freshman - if you never enrolled in a college or university after receiving a high school diploma, you are considered a freshman applicant. Note: If you received college credit while attending high school, you are still considered a first-time freshman.
Undergraduate Transfer - if you have enrolled in a regionally, accredited institution you are considered a transfer student. Note: If your cumulative GPA is at least 2.0 but you’ve earned less than 24 semester hours of required course work (see Admission as a Transfer Student for details), then you must meet the admission criteria for new freshmen. You will be classified as a transfer student, but you will be evaluated using new freshmen criteria. Note: If you have attended any regionally, accredited school since graduating high school, you CANNOT apply as a new freshman.
Former Student – if you previously attended Grambling State University, and have not attended for at least one regular semester, you are considered a former student.
Former/Transfer Student – if you previously attended Grambling State University, and have attended another college since last enrolled at GSU, you are considered a former/transfer student.
Adult, Non-traditional Student – if you are a degree-seeking student 25 years of age or older, you are considered a non-traditional student. You must meet the admissions criteria for new students (freshmen).
International students- if you are not a United States citizen or do not have a Permanent Resident Card (Green Card), you are considered an international student. Please visit the Center for International Affairs & Programs for admission information.
Graduate AdmissionsAn applicant for admission to a master's degree program or Education Specialist’s degree program must have a bachelor's degree. Prerequisite degrees must be from institutions accredited by agencies recognized by Grambling State University. Please visit Graduate Admissions for details.
