Fee Waiver Information


OUT-OF-STATE FEE WAIVER INFORMATION

For tuition purposes, new students from other state (U.S. citizens) may be considered residents of Louisiana when registering for admittance, provided they satisfy the following minimum criteria:

  1. Students must first satisfy the admission requirements.
     
  2. Additional minimum admission criteria include:

    First-time freshmen (under 12 credits of college level work completed):

    • ACT composite of 21 (or equivalent SAT of 980), and
    • Cumulative high school GPA of 2.50 or higher (4.0 scale), and
    • Have no need for developmental course

    Note: The SAT equivalent includes the combined SAT Verbal and math scores.

    Transfer students (at least 12 credits of college level work completed):

    • Cumulative GPA of 2.5 on college level work, and
    • Have no need for developmental course work, and
    • Be eligible to return to their previous institution.

    Special Achievement Consideration (SPIRIT):

    • Non-resident, undergraduate students with high achievement in dance performance, debate, visual arts, music performance, or theater performance may be considered a resident of Louisiana for tuition/fee purposes.  Cheerleaders, flag corps, university-recognized or sponsored spirit groups, and the SGA president, may also be considered in this group.  The applying student must meet each of the following criteria:
       
      1. Demonstrate high achievement in the appropriate performance area.
      2. Have a preceding semester and cumulative minimum GPA of 2.5 (4.0 scale), and at least 24 semester hours of college-level work.  If applying prior to entering college, must have a cumulative minimum GPA of 2.5 (4.0 scale).
      3. Demonstrate leadership.
      4. Receive a satisfactory rating in an interview.  Interview must be documented and submitted with the request for out-of-state fee status.
      5. Commit to participate in the appropriate performance area.
         
  3. Students receiving the out-of-state fee status must sign a statement of understanding which outlines the conditions of retaining the status.  The statement of understanding will be kept on file at the Office of Admissions.

The maximum time allowed for the out-of-state fee status is four (4) consecutive years.
