The Child Development Program is a multidisciplinary field. It is the study of human growth and development from conception through adolescence, and the application of that knowledge to benefit children, families, and communities.
This is a major for students who are interested in working with young children. Wherever possible, course material is complemented with observations and students work with children in a wide range of applied settings. The settings include schools, hospitals, clinics, and day care centers. Practicum experiences allow the integration of theory, research, and practice.
Students are prepared to work in the following occupations: pres-school teachers, childcare providers, childcare center director, and child care workers.
