Students interested in the Drafting Design Technology Program may choose to focus their interest towards an Architectural, Mechanical, or Construction concentration.
- Students who choose to concentrate on Architecture Drafting Design will be required to take courses related to the drafting and design of buildings with the utilization of computers.
- Students who choose to concentrate on Mechanical Drafting Design will be required to take courses related to the drafting, design, and manufacturing/production of mechanical and machine parts and apparatuses with the use of computers.
- Students with an interest in Construction Science will take courses that focus on contracts/laws, project management, design, building methods and materials, and surveying.
Designs of ideas and projects for each concentration uses the modern technology of Computer-Aided Drafting and Design to develop the graphic representations of buildings, parts, systems, and mechanical apparatuses. Students also are required to take fundamental engineering technology core courses combined with technical learning activities.
All of the concentrations require the selection of electives. Students are advised to take appropriate electives with the approval and guidance of their advisor. Electives are selected in reference to student’s area of interest. The following is a list of courses that may be used to satisfy the electives for the concentrations in the Drafting Design Technology Plan of Study. Students will select 9 to 12 approved credit hours from this list to complete their concentration.
