Mrs. Diane Maroney Grigsby: Coordinator of Dance / Faculty Instructor / Choreographer/ Artistic Director of ORCHESIS Dance Company Phone: 318-274-2889 MA – Louisiana Tech BA - Grambling State University Experience & accomplishments: A native of Norfolk, VA, Mrs. Grigsby moved to New York City in 1973 where she joined the Alvin Ailey Repertory Dance Ensemble. She toured extensively with Alvin Ailey performing in Europe, Asia, and Africa. Artistic Associate of Louisiana Dance Theater, honor company in Regional Dance America Southwest. Winner of the prestigious “Silver Leo Award” for choreography of “Red” at the 1994 Jazz Dance World Congress held in Chicago. In 1995, the Nina Widemann Foundation of Shreveport presented her with the “Living Legend Award”. She returned to perform at The Alvin Ailey Repertory Ensemble in tribute to famed Dancer and Choreographer, Ulysses Dove.

She has done extensive research: “The Impact of Deafness on the Family”, “Are Colleges and Universities Handicapped Accessible for the Hearing Impaired”, and “The Impact of Deafness on Learning”. Mrs. Brown has served as Director of Special Population at New Vision Learning Academy- Monroe, LA. She developed Local Education Agency (LEA) application for State and Federal funding for The Special Population Program. Additionally, Mrs. Brown has coordinated services for IDEA (Individuals with Disabilities Education Act) students.

She is the House Manager for the F.L Sandle “Little” Theatre located in Dunbar Hall. Mrs. Modest’s greatest accomplishment in life is being a wife, and a proud mother of two children: Sharon Denise, alumni of Grambling State University is a Loan Consultant at Capital One in Richardson, Texas while Donovan, alumni of Southern Arkansas University is in graduate school at the University of Arkansas in Little Rock . Mrs. Modest has one grandson, Shandon Marcel Ludley.
