DEPARTMENT: Center for International Affairs & Programs (CIAP)  

QUALIFICATIONS: A Bachelor's degree is required, and a Masters strongly preferred with two (2) years related experience in international student affairs or study abroad advising preferred. Superior skills in cross-cultural counseling are also strongly desired. The successful candidate will have solid knowledge of F-1 and J-1 immigration rules, regulations and procedures. We are looking for a dedicated, organized and detail-oriented person who is dependable, punctual and possesses tactfulness and diplomacy combined with maturity, sophistication and cross-cultural sensitivity. A high degree of flexibility to handle changing priorities is expected. The ability to deal with interruptions, exercise good judgment and to handle confidential materials is crucial. The desired candidate must have the ability to produce outstanding work and possess the ability to communicate in a foreign language. Advanced experience with technology, including proficiency in Microsoft Office, web page and Access database design and management, is very desirable. Demonstrated experience with SCT Banner, FERPA rules and regulations, and methods of transporting data across operating systems and between database applications is also desirable. Must be able to work some evenings and weekends during peak time. Overseas experience is highly desirable. The successful candidate will be expected to serve as International Admission Counselor/ Advisor.  

RESPONSIBILITIES: The successful candidate will be expected to:

  • Advises and provides information to current and prospective international students regarding resources and services available for International Student Services
  • Coordinate the entire International Admission process, including foreign credit evaluation
  • Process the Admissions, registration and financial aid awards for International students in a timely manner
  • Provide orientation programs and workshops in collaboration with various campus student service providers
  • Work closely with the Executive Director to perform a variety of projects and assignments in support of the international program mission
  • Supervise the organization and processing of the entire international admission process, including foreign credit evaluation
  • Supervise SEVIS and provide immigration workshops for our international students
  • Establish, reconstruct, update and track SEVIS processing files
  • Develop and deliver an electronic newsletter
  • University-wide coordination in implementing procedures and services that respond to legislative and regulatory mandates governing non-immigrant students and exchange visitors based on SEVIS
  • Enter current data, reconstruct, update and track SEVIS processing files
  • Monitor statistical operational records
  • Maintain SEVIS documentation library
  • Produce and disseminate multiple reports and queries as required by the Executive Director and federal an state agencies on a regular basis
  • Other duties as assigned by the AVP for Student Affairs and Enrollment Management & Executive Director of the Center for International Affairs & Programs
