DEPARTMENT: Department of Curriculum and Instruction  

QUALIFICATIONS: A Ph.D. or Ed. D. degree in Early Childhood Education is required. The desired candidate must have experience teaching early childhood undergraduate and graduate courses, as well as experience teaching in an early childhood setting. Active involvement with professional organizations and teaching experience at the university level are preferred. Evidence of grant writing, research and publication are a plus. A commitment to the academic achievement of a diverse student population. An excellent academic record and evidence of potential to make significant contributions to the field of teacher education in general and specifically in early childhood education.  

RESPONSIBILITIES: The successful candidate will be expected to:

  • Teach four courses per semester in Early Childhood Education
  • Serve and provide assistance on all committees to which he/she is assigned
  • Engage in scholarly work and to involve students in this work whenever feasible
  • Assist the Department Head in increasing the number of majors in the department
  • Assist with curriculum reviews and analysis at the department/college/university
  • Attend faculty meetings, convocations, and commencements, and to participate in other official University functions when requested
  • Perform other tasks assigned by the Department Head, Dean of the College/School, or Provost
  • Assist with providing leadership and counsel for student organizations in the department
  • Other duties as assigned by the Department Head or Dean
