DEPARTMENT:	Department of English
QUALIFICATIONS:	The English Department at Grambling State University invites applications for two tenure-track positions. Persons with background in Early American Literature are encouraged to apply. The applicant must have an excellent academic record. The Ph.D. is required before date of appointment.
RESPONSIBILITIES:	The successful candidate will be expected to: Teach all courses assigned by the Department Head Serve and provide assistance on all committees to which he/she is assigned Engage in scholarly work and to involve students in this work whenever feasible Assist the Department Head in increasing the number of majors in the department Assist with curriculum reviews and analysis at the department/college/university level Attend faculty meetings, convocations, and commencements, and to participate in other official University functions when requested Ensure that all programs in the department have currency and that they contribute to the mission of the University Assist with providing leadership and counsel for student organizations in the department Perform other tasks assigned by the Department Head, Dean of the College/School, or Provost
TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT:	9 month-tenure track
SALARY:	Salary is competitive with excellent benefits package.
