DEPARTMENT: Department of English  

QUALIFICATIONS: The English Department at Grambling State University invites applications for two tenure-track positions. Persons with background in Early American Literature are encouraged to apply. The applicant must have an excellent academic record. The Ph.D. is required before date of appointment.  

RESPONSIBILITIES: The successful candidate will be expected to:

  • Teach all courses assigned by the Department Head
  • Serve and provide assistance on all committees to which he/she is assigned
  • Engage in scholarly work and to involve students in this work whenever feasible
  • Assist the Department Head in increasing the number of majors in the department
  • Assist with curriculum reviews and analysis at the department/college/university level
  • Attend faculty meetings, convocations, and commencements, and to participate in other official University functions when requested
  • Ensure that all programs in the department have currency and that they contribute to the mission of the University
  • Assist with providing leadership and counsel for student organizations in the department
  • Perform other tasks assigned by the Department Head, Dean of the College/School, or Provost
TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT: 9 month-tenure track

SALARY: Salary is competitive with excellent benefits package.
