DEPARTMENT: Accounting/Controller's Office  

QUALIFICATIONS: A B.S. degree in Accounting and at least five years accounting experience is required. Preferred qualifications include an MBA, CPA, Sungard Banner and PeopleSoft experience. The desired candidate must have strong analytical skills, strong oral and verbal communication skills, strong organization and management skills and must be detail oriented. Proficiency in the use of Excel. The desired candidate should have a high strong sense of comprehension, good people skills, a friendly attitude, strong sense of customer service, and good decision making skills. Must be available for evening and weekend work if required. Must have experience in Microsoft Access and Microsoft Word. At least three years in higher education and two years of management experience.  

RESPONSIBILITIES: The successful candidate will be expected to:

  • Supervise General Accounting, Payroll, Accounts Payable, and Travel
  • Understand and utilize the SunGard Banner Finance module to ensure maximum efficiency and effectiveness in the operations of the unit
  • Troubleshoot system problems
  • Prepare various financial and accounting reports
  • Assist with the year-end close out
  • Assist with the preparation of year-end annual financial statements
  • Conduct periodic in-service training to Finance staff
  • Stay abreast of Banner system changes and upgrades to ensure that there is no disruption in the Finance system operations
  • Liaison with ITC for problems requiring technical assistance
  • Other related duties as assigned
