DEPARTMENT: Office of Sponsored Programs  

QUALIFICATIONS: A master's degree in an academic discipline is required; however, a doctorate is preferred. Experience in proposal development and managing federally funded projects are required. At least seven years experience in higher education.  

RESPONSIBILITIES: The successful candidate will be expected to:

  • Implement the yearly plan to increase the funding received from grants and contracts
  • Annually revise the plan to increase the number and the funding of grants and contracts received by the University
  • Inform the Provost through monthly progress reports of work accomplished in the Office
  • Operate the Office in accord with policies of the University and the University of Louisiana System
  • Develop and update annually a Capabilities Statement describing the expertise of the faculty
  • Market the University faculty to federal agencies, corporations, and foundations
  • Develop working relationships with program officers at federal agencies, national laboratories, and foundations
  • Represent the University at conferences and meetings dealing with grants and contracts
  • Operate the Office to provide assistance and encouragement to faculty attempting to write proposals
  • Carry out other duties related to the purpose of the Office as assigned by the Provost
