DEPARTMENT: Department of Mass Communication  

QUALIFICATIONS: A Ph.D. or ABD in Film Studies; or Master of Fine Arts (MFA) or M.A. in Film and Video Production, Telecommunication or Mass Communication with considerable professional experience in the areas of media production. Required areas of expertise include film history, digital media production, screenwriting and related areas. The ideal individual for the position should have significant professional production and proven teaching experience in screenwriting, cinematography, editing, audio production and post production, animation, and new media production.  

RESPONSIBILITIES: The successful candidate will be expected to:

  • Assume responsibilty for the program's day-to-day administration, including faculty/staff recruitment, curriculum development, budgeting, scheduling of classes, supervision of laboratory facilities with the assistance of professional and support staff
  • Supervise the program to achieve the goals and mission of the University
  • Review the program curriculum and propose changes as appropriate to maintain program viability and currency
  • Coordinate activities of support staff, consultants, and/or faculty engaged in the development and implementation of the new program
  • Make scholarly contributions to the discipline
  • Maintain a minimum number of majors to insure the continuation of the program
  • Attend all University and College faculty meetings, convocations, commencements, and official functions of the University
  • Complete all other tasks as assigned by the Department Head, Dean and the Provost/Vice President for Academic Affairs
