DEPARTMENT: Department of Speech and Theatre  

QUALIFICATIONS: M.F.A. or Ph.D., in theatre or related field and at least five (5) years of teaching experience at the university level, as well as: a record of scholarly contributions and effective interpersonal, organizational and communication skills, both written and oral. Applicant must be knowledgeable of Acting and Directing techniques, rehearsal procedures technical theatre/design and the ability to teach voice and diction techniques.  

RESPONSIBILITIES: The successful candidate will be expected to:

  • Teach courses in speech and/or Professional Communication
  • Teach courses in Modern Drama, Directing, Period Acting
  • Interpret plays and scripts for production
  • Audition and identify performers for roles in specific productions
  • Conduct rehearsals, assist in technical design and construction as needed
  • Maintain a familiarity with standard concepts, practices, and procedures in acting and directing
  • Posses a wide degree of creativity and latitude
