DEPARTMENT: Biological Sciences  

QUALIFICATIONS: A Master's degree is required and two years of related experience is preferable.  

RESPONSIBILITIES: The successful candidate will be expected to:

  • Serve as a liaison between directors, project faculty, and students
  • Establish and maintain a close working relationship with participating faculty and Department Heads in math and science disciplines
  • Coordinate conferences, seminars, symposia and workshops for MARC and RISE programs
  • Work with students to assure that they send applications for SRI and graduate schools by due dates, and maintain appropriate records
  • Create and maintain excel spreadsheet containing a list of institutions for SRI and graduate schools
  • Create and maintain excel spreadsheet containing a list of T32 grantee institutions
  • Create and maintain excel spreadsheets for MARC and RISE participants for enrollment, academic progress, and graduation data
  • Monitor student progress and compliance with standards required for good academic standing and continued fellowships, periodically alert students and directors regarding unsatisfactory progress
  • Coordinate a variety of academic support activities
  • Prepare academic/statistical documents to support grant operations and progress reports
  • Assist the directors with media relations, including news releases and responding to inquiries
  • Supervise student workers. Coordinate training, and orientation. Counsel with subordinates on work related problems and questions
  • Establish and maintain electronic files for identifying, recording and classifying stored data and text
  • Schedule tutorial sessions in math and science disciplines in consultation with project faculty and students
  • Perform other tasks as required or assigned
