DEPARTMENT: Office of Retention  

QUALIFICATIONS: A bachelor's degree in Computer Information System or related field with five years of experience providing a thorough knowledge of information technology systems. Experience must have included activities in developing and installing software, monitoring and supervising the daily usage of the Academic Computer Labs. The Computer Analyst/Software Specialist must work with the Information Technology Center to obtain university-wide retention rates, graduation rates and other data needed by the Office of Retention. The desired candidate must have excellent oral and written communication skills and the ability to interact effectively with administrators, faculty, staff and students. The candidate must be able to assist in planning, implementing and evaluating the Retention Program.  

RESPONSIBILITIES: The successful candidate will be expected to:

  • Develop, design and maintain software needed to generate reports and statistics needed by the Office of Retention
  • Provide software support to faculty, staff and students on various micro-computing platforms such as Windows (2000, XP and Vista), running on Dell, IBM, and other workstations
  • Configure and install software and hardware for desktops and laptops
  • Assist and advise faculty, staff, and students in selecting and utilizing the most appropriate computing resources
  • Present training sessions for faculty and staff
  • Prepare user documentation
  • Train student employees in the areas of software support
  • Be responsible for six Academic Computer Skill labs
  • Assign students to work stations
  • Be responsible for monitoring all lab assistants to make sure they are at their assigned workstation
  • Evaluate software programs and make recommendations
  • Serve as liaison to the University's Information Technology Center
  • Work with vendors support to resolve technical problems with desktop computing equipment and software
  • Work at least two evenings per week
  • Other duties as assigned by the Director
