DEPARTMENT: Comprehensive Counseling Center  

QUALIFICATIONS: A Masters degree is required in Marriage and Family Therapy, Counseling, Psychology or a closely related field. The desired candidates must be eligible for License/Certification in the appropriate discipline and at least one year of experience in individual and group counseling, crisis intervention for emotional, personal, and psychological concerns. Must exhibit excellent communication skills and be able to work with people at various levels of authority. The candidates must be able to work with a diverse student population in a professional manner. Counseling experience in an academic environment is preferred.  

RESPONSIBILITIES: The successful candidate will be expected to:

  • Adhere to all professional codes of ethics as well as those standards, policies, procedures, regulations, etc., specified by federal, state, and local governing bodies
  • Provide individual and group counseling and/or psychotherapy, screening, crisis intervention, ADA accommodations counseling/advocacy to college students and others by assignment
  • Design and conduct developmental proactive campus outreach programs for the purpose of advocating good mental health and training in social-emotional personal life skills
  • Provide liaison and resource support to individuals and groups to broaden access to include community base providers of special assessments, treatment, legal advisement, etc
  • Demonstrate technical, research, writing, reporting, staffing, etc., skills to submit weekly, monthly or special reports
  • Participate in training and supervision of paraprofessionals, graduate and undergraduate trainees, work-study and volunteer students
  • Serve on university committees to perform activities and services to students and the greater community
  • Perform other assigned functions that contribute to the service offerings of the center and the academic mission of the institution
