GRE fee waivers are available to a limited number of college seniors and unenrolled college graduates who meet eligibility requirements. The fee waivers may be used for one General Test and/or one Subject Test.
A. Guidelines to determine your eligibility for a fee waiver:
- You must be a U. S. citizen or resident alien; and
- A college senior receiving federal financial aid through an undergraduate college in the U.S., a U. S. territory, or Puerto Rico, or a returning unenrolled college graduate who has applied for federal financial aid; and either
- A dependent college senior whose Institutional Student Information Report (ISIR) shows an expected family contribution (EFC) of not more than $1,200 for the senior year, or
- A self-supporting college senior whose ISIR shows an expected family contribution (EFC) of not more than $1,600 for the senior year, or
- An unenrolled college graduate whose ISIR indicates self-supporting status and an expected family contribution (EFC) of not more than $1,500.
B. Application Reminders or Checklist:
- Complete GRE fee waiver form (available on-line) and submit to the Office of Student Financial Aid & Scholarships.
- You will be notified of your eligibility via written correspondence within 2/3 working days.
- Once your eligibility is established, the financial aid office will issue you a fee waiver and a copy of your ISIR (institutional student information record) for the current award year.
- A student can only receive one fee waiver per academic year.
- You must register by mail using either the computer-based or paper application.
- All registration materials must be together with the fee waiver and ISIR or your registration form will be returned to you unprocessed.
- Please do not allow your approved GRE fee waiver certificate expire, you will not be issued another one. Fee waivers are not retroactive and they cannot be replaced if lost or stolen.
C. Checklist to review before mailing your GRE waiver to ETS:
- Review your documents.
- Take the waiver to the Registrar’s Office for verification of enrollment – you must secure the University seal prior to mailing.
- Attach Fee Waiver Certificate with other required documents and mail
