Bring It Home Campaign
Frequently Asked Questions
What is The Bring it Home Campaign?
The Bring It Home Campaign is a partnership between Grambling State University, Grambling University Foundation, Inc. and Grambling University National Alumni Association in an effort to raise $1 million for continued institutional growth and the execution of the University’s mission.
Is Bring it Home Campaign a capital campaign?
The Bring it Home Campaign is not a capital campaign; however, we hope to build upon the success of this campaign and launch a comprehensive capital campaign in 2020. In preparation, we will need to increase the number of contacts in our database and improve overall alumni giving rate.
Can I make my gift as a pledge?
Yes, pledges are accepted and encouraged. We ask that all pledges be fulfilled by April 30, 2018. Additionally, we encourage donors to make a multi-year pledge - a commitment that can be honored monthly, quarterly, annual, or customized to meet any need. As a courtesy, the University will send payment reminders via email.
What is a pledge card?
Donors are asked to complete a pledge card as a good faith commitment, indicating that they agree to the terms of the pledge. A pledge card is also used to ensure that gifts are properly recorded and acknowledged.
Can I set-up automatic/recurring gifts for pledge to the Bring it Home Campaign?
Yes, we encourage donors to take advantage of our recurring gifts opportunity. The most convenient option is to visit our giving platform, http://www.gram.edu/giving, to create a recurring option that best fits you.
What happens if a donor is unable to fulfill a commitment to the campaign?
A completed pledge card is not a legally binding document. We hope all commitments are made with the intention of being fulfilled; however, if a donor is unable to fulfill a commitment, we encourage him/her to contact the University.

Will my gift be tax deductible?
Yes, most gifts to the Bring it Home Campaign are fully tax deductible. However, if you receive any goods or services in return for your gift, such as auction items or tickets, the fair-market value of those items is not tax deductible. Also, in-kind gifts are tax deductible to the market value as well.
Will the Bring It Home Campaign honor matching gifts?
Many employers sponsor matching gift programs; therefore, we strongly encourage donors to inquire about their employers’ matching gift programs. Matching gifts can double or even triple the size of your gift. In simple terms, if you give GSU $250, your employer will pay GSU an additional $250 to ‘match’ your gift. The exact details of the match varies for each employer and by your employee status (full-time vs. part-time). Details about your employer’s matching gift program is usually found on the employer’s website.
How can I help ensure that the Bring it Home Campaign is a success?
Alumni, friends, and supporters can help by joining a Campaign committee, making a gift to the Bring it Home Campaign, praying for our success, and/or sharing the good news about Grambling State University with your family, friends, and co-workers. Speak with your Campaign Capitan regarding how to get involved.
