Administrative Services are provided by the Office of the Director of Library Services. This office oversees budget expenditures and the employment of library faculty, support staff, and student assistants.

The Director of Library Services, under the authority of the Vice President for Academic Affairs, implements the library program. Significant participation is provided by the Library Middle Management Advisory Committee, comprised of all library faculty, and by all library support staff through a network of committees and quality circles

The Director is responsible for the development and implementation of the library's mission, goals, and policies as well as for the safety and security of patrons, staff, and inventory.

In an effort to include recommendations directly from the 72 academic programs of the university, the Director works with the University Library Committee (appointed by the Vice President for Academic Affairs), comprised of faculty and administrators from the various departments, schools, and colleges. This committee helps to formulate the mission, goals, and objectives of the library.

The work of the Office of the Director of Library Services is carried out by one Administrative Assistant (who supervises an Administrative Coordinator 2 responsible for the employment of approximately 150 student assistants) as well as the Library Security Police Officer(s).

All librarians, including the Director hold faculty rank. Three library faculty -- along with five library specialists -- are under the umbrella of public service, and three library faculty -- along with three library specialists -- are primarily responsible for technical services.
