GRAMBLING, LA – Grambling State University has a lot to celebrate but most importantly the University will be turning 110 years old this November. The theme for this monumental event is “110 Years of Tradition, Service, and Excellence.” Kicking-off the year-long celebration Friday morning there will be a breakfast in the Black and Gold room at 7:30 a.m. Attendees are asked to donate $1.10 at the door. Following the celebration the Marching Tigers will perform in front of the Favrot Student Union where Alma J. Brown Elementary students will release 110 black and gold balloons. All facets of the university will be represented during the early morning celebration. Wrapping things up Grambling is inviting the public to come out and enjoy the basketball competition between GSU and Prairie View A&M University in the Frederick C. Hobdy Assembly Center, admission is only $1.10. The university is hoping that this will be a sellout event. The women’s game will begin at 5:00 p.m. and the men’s game will begin at 8:00 p.m. ESPNU will broadcast the men’s game. There will be a banner contest, the oldest alumnus will be recognized and ARAMARK will have a special concession item for $1.10 during the game as well as half-time activities.
Friday events will be one of many that will take place throughout the year. Grambling State University is rich in history and tradition. The University is well-known all around the globe for its academics and sports. Grambling State University is proud of its legacy and plans to continue to produce legends for another 110 years.
