GRAMBLING, LA – The College of Business at Grambling State University has maintained its business accreditation by AACSB International — The Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business. Founded in 1916, AACSB International is the longest serving global accrediting body for business schools that offer undergraduate, master’s, and doctoral degrees in business and accounting.
Only 607 schools of business, or less than 5% worldwide, have earned this distinguished hallmark of excellence in management education. To maintain accreditation a business program must undergo a rigorous internal review every five years, at which the program must demonstrate its continued commitment to the 21 quality standards relating to faculty qualification, strategic management of resources, interactions of faculty and students, as well as a commitment to continuous improvement and achievement of learning goals in degree programs. “The continuation of AACSB is consistent with the excellence for which Grambling State University is internationally known. AACSB is without a doubt the most prestigious achievements a university can achieve and it confirms the quality of our faculty and students. The university is profoundly pleased to have its excellence confirmed by accrediting colleagues,” states Dr. Frank Pogue, Grambling President.
“It takes a great deal of self-evaluation and determination to earn and maintain AACSB accreditation,” said Jerry Trapnell, vice president and chief accreditation officer of AACSB International. “Schools not only must meet specific standards of excellence, but their deans, faculty, and staff must make a commitment to ongoing improvement to ensure continued delivery of high-quality education to students.” “The Dean of the College of Business and the faculty at Grambling State University are to be commended on their efforts to make sure the accrediting team was able to clearly see the strengthens of the programs in the College of Business,” says GSU Provost Connie Walton.
“Grambling State University’s College of Business continues to distinguish itself because of its highly prepared collegiate faculty providing each student with relevant quality instruction. The College provides a supportive environment where students are taught not only business principles and concepts but also the “soft skills” that are necessary for successful business careers. The College’s innovative techniques of demonstrating the benefits of ethical behavior and applied business research provide the foundation for students to contribute to the advancement of knowledge and become socially responsible life-long learners. AACSB in its ratification of the College of Business programs recognizes the expected high business management education standards that are embedded to prepare exceptional and diverse graduates from the College of Business at Grambling State University,” states the College of Business Dean, Dr. Carl N. Wright.
Grambling State University’s achievement will be recognized this month at the 2011 AACSB International Conference and Annual Meeting in New York City.
