Grambling State’s Provost Honored in Baton Rouge

Dr. Connie Walton, Provost & Vice President for Academic Affairs

GRAMBLING, LA— Dr. Connie Walton, Interim Provost and Vice-President of Academic Affairs at Grambling State University, was honored as one of the Most Powerful Women in Louisiana during the Louisiana Women’s Conference in Baton Rouge on September 17.

Dr. Frank G. Pogue, President of Grambling State University said, “I am very excited by Dr. Walton’s accomplishment. She is a constant reminder of the excellent preparation our students receive at Grambling State University.”

Dr. Walton was appointed to her most recent position in January 2010 by Dr. Pogue.

The senior academic official is a tenured faculty in Chemistry, who received a B.S. in Chemistry from Grambling State University and a Ph.D. in Organic Chemistry from the University of Southern Mississippi,

To her credit, Dr. Walton served as a member of the State of Louisiana’s Blue Ribbon Commission for Educational Excellence for one year (2006-2007) and the Board of Regents Chief Articulation Officers for Grambling State University for 2008-2009.
