President Frank G. Pogue addresses university community,
providing academic, budget and enrollment updates
GRAMBLING, LA. – Grambling State University President Frank G. Pogue will update the university community about progress on the institution’s strategic initiatives with a focus on academics, budget and enrollment at the annual fall convocation at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, August 28, 2012 at the T.H. Harris Auditorium on campus.
As the state of Louisiana and the University of Louisiana System go through challenging and difficult budget and financial circumstances, the university remains focused on its historical goals and mission. Pogue remains committed to the university providing an affordable, quality education to all undergraduate and graduate students, doing so with a focus on the universities priorities and goals established in the first year of Pogue’s presidency. The president will address academic successes and plans, budget needs and realities and the status of enrollment.
“I will update our administration, faculty, staff, students, alumni and the community on what we have done and what we plan to do,” said Pogue, the university’s eighth president. “These 10 priorities are not window dressing. We live and work by and through each one daily, and our Grambling family deserves to know where we stand.”
Though the details of the new university new budget will not be finalized until the enrollment period ends, Pogue said he will prepare the university community for what is coming, providing a realistic view of what must be done and how the university will go about implementing some necessary but painful cuts. “I know everyone wants to know what we’re doing, and how,” added Pogue. “We have been deliberate and focused on what needs to be done and we will make smart decisions. I will tell our community about the types of things we’re looking into to make this difficult time work best.”
Attendees are encouraged to arrive at the auditorium early.
