Annual activities scheduled for Sept. 24 and Sept. 25
GRAMBLING, LA – Grambling State University will host its annual Founder’s Week activities the last week of September with some traditional events on September 24 and September 25.
President Frank G. Pogue invites the Grambling-Ruston-Lincoln Parish and northeast Louisiana communities to attend the opening ceremony at 7:30 a.m. on September 24 as he and Grambling Mayor Edward Jones sign an official proclamation and recognize university founder Charles P. Adams at a bust of Adams adjacent to Lee Hall. That brief ceremony will be followed by the annual Founder’s Week Fellowship Breakfast, which is scheduled for 8 a.m. until 10 a.m. at the Favrot Student Union’s Black and Gold Room. Attendees will be served breakfast by a host of community and university representatives, including officials from the Greater Grambling Chamber of Commerce, Liberty Hill Baptist Association ministers and other community ministers, area mayors, Pogue and Mrs. Dorothy Pogue as well as the president’s executive council, university student leaders, university faculty representatives, area alumni, athletics department officials and team members, Lincoln Parish Police Jury and Sheriff’s Department officials as well as other law enforcement representatives.
The following day, September 25, the president will host the annual Founder’s Day Convocation at the T.H. Harris Auditorium. This annual event will include an academic march, the university choir, and students from the lab schools. During the week, the university will include historic and informational tours about the institution and its founder.
“The annual Founder’s Week Fellowship Breakfast is something I look forward to each fall because it’s a time to honor our departed, much-loved founder Charles P. Adams and it’s important that we remember what he did in establishing this great institution,” said Pogue. “In addition, it’s a wonderful time of fellowship for Gramblinites and university supporters, not to mention the good food.”
Tickets for the breakfast are $10 per person. Tickets can be purchased at the university Institutional Advancement office. For more information, call 318-274-2217 or email email@example.com
