GRAMBLING, LA – Grambling State University’s department of visual and performing arts is hosting a multimedia, site-specific installation entitled Stories on My Back by artist Richard A. Lou. The exhibition will be housed in Dunbar Gallery, located on Hutchinson Street on the university’s campus in Grambling, LA.

Inspired by stories told by his mother and father, Lou creates an environment reminiscent of the ancient ceremonial spaces used by all cultures. His goal is to encourage youth to embrace certain values and goals through story telling.

Lou is professor and chair of the department of visual arts at the University of Memphis in Memphis, Tennessee. He has an extensive national and international exhibition record, including exhibitions in Mexico and the United States.

Lou will present a lecture about his work on September 19 from 2:30 – 5:00 p.m. in Grambling Hall Auditorium. A reception for the artist will be held 4:30 – 6:00 p.m. in Dunbar Gallery.

Gallery hours are from 8:00 a.m. – 4:30 p.m. Monday – Friday. Accommodations are available for large groups and special needs persons. For more information, please call Donna Mcgee at 318-274-2274.
