GRAMBLING, LA. - Grambling State University’s Dunbar Gallery hosts the annual faculty exhibition from January 7 – 30, 2014. The exhibition is comprised of works by four faculty members: Drek Davis, Larry Holston, Donna McGee, Tommie Sue Slaughter and one staff member, Mr. Terence C. Williams, II.
The idea of reuse is an important component of Davis work. He reinterprets images from popular culture using a variety of materials from fabric to roofing paper. The female role as nurturer is reflected in T.S. Slaughter’s ceramic and mixed media works. Larry Holston’s work is inspired by issues of concern in African American culture and his love of fishing. Donna McGee’s work references her love of nature and landscape and examination of the evolving earth as means of understanding the self. Terence C. Williams explores the local area through photographs that capture his unique view of the world.
The public is invited to interact with the artists at a closing reception to be held on January 30th, 2014 from 4:30 – 6:00 PM in Dunbar Gallery. The gallery is located on Hutchinson Street on the GSU campus. Gallery hours are from 8 – 4:30 Monday – Thursday and 8:00 – 12:00 on Friday.
