What: GSU students, faculty, administration, alumni, and community will march and wear hoodies at a memorial rally in solidarity of the death of Trayvon Martin.

When/Where: Thursday, March 29, 2012
GSU Quad-flag pole to start the march and end up at the courtyard (next to the Favrot Student Union)
11:00 a.m.

TODAY – The first 350 marchers will receive a bag of skittles and the first 100 marchers will receive a cup and tea.

Honors Week

Honors Week
3/26-29/2012

Grambling State University will host its Annual Honors Week Monday March 26th through Wednesday March 28th.

  • On Monday, there will be poster displays of scholarly student research in various academic departments.
  • On Tuesday, March 27th, the Honors Convocation will be held at 1:00 p.m. in the T. H. Harris Auditorium.  The guest speaker will be Dr. Henry Lewis Gates.  All students who made a 3.0 or above during the Spring 2011 or the Fall 2011 semester are asked to be present in the T. H. Harris Auditorium at 12:30 p.m.  Males, who are honor students, are asked to wear white shirts, ties, and dark pants.  Females are asked to wear black dresses or black pant suits to this convocation.
  • Tuesday is a campus-wide "Black and Gold" Day.
  • On Wednesday, March 28th, there will be an honors parade.  All honor students are to be present at 10:00 a.m. at the Club House on Ralph Jones Blvd.  Honor students are to dress in their honor tee shirts or GSU tee shirts.  The parade will begin at 11:00 a.m. beside the Club House.  It will then proceed east on Central Street to Main, west on College Ave., and south on Ralph Jones Blvd., and end near the president’s home.  An honors picnic will then be held on the president’s lawn.   Honor students, their family members, faculty, and staff are invited to attend the picnic.
