Reporting in SEVIS
(Student Exchange Visitor Information System)
Law Cite 8 CFR 214.3 (g) (3): 21 days
- Change in school information, school name, address, or curriculum
- Student’s failure to maintain status (e.g. unauthorized employment, stay past end date on the I-20, less that a full-time course of study)
- Student’s failure to complete his/her program
- Change in the student’s or dependent’s legal name
- Change in the student’s or dependent’s address
- Early graduation (prior to program end date as listed on I-20)
- Disciplinary action by the school as a result of the student’s being convicted of a crime.
- Any other notification request made by SEVIS
For each term or session, within 30 days following close of registration for classes, schools are required to report the following:
Law Cite 8 CFR 214.3 (g) (3) (iii): 30 days
- Enrollment Status (enrolled or not enrolled; “No-shows”)
- Unauthorized drops below fulltime
- Failure to enroll
- Current address
- Start date of next session/term
