Income tax preparation assistance available at GSU
GRAMBLING – If you need help completing your income taxes free of charge, help is available for qualified taxpayers at Grambling State University every Saturday through the end of tax season from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. in Jacob T. Stewart Hall, Room 262.
Grambling State University is one of three Volunteer Income Tax Assistance sites in Lincoln Parish as part of a partnership with the United Way of Northeast Louisiana and the Internal Revenue Service. The program, "Earn It! Keep It! Save It," provides free tax return completion, e-filing services and assistance for filing Earned Income Tax Credit claims for households that earned fewer than $41,646 in 2008.
Grambling students and others have been trained to assist taxpayers.
“This is such a valuable service that could provide a great boost for our community in these trying financial times,” said Janie Milby, director of campaign and marketing for the United Way of Northeast Louisiana.
Stewart Hall is located at 150 RWE Jones Drive. For more information, contact Laralee DeHart, GSU accounting instructor and site coordinator, at (318) 274-3113.
