CIAP: ‘So many opportunities for growth’

Grambling State University achieved global recognition decades ago, but for years the comprehensive make-up of our student body belied the university’s international notoriety.

But that was then.

Over the past four years, the Center for International Affairs & Programs, or CIAP, has accepted a bold challenge from Dr. Judson to establish an internationally diverse campus.

Under the leadership of Mahmoud Lamadanie, Executive Associate Vice President for International Affairs, GSU has experienced explosive growth in our international student population.

In the fall of 2008, our international student enrollment portfolio reached 508 students, representing more than 48 countries, the most in the program’s four-year history. The number of applications received by CIAP in 2008 increased 110 percent over the previous year, which shows that word is getting around.

“Our mission is to recruit, admit and retain a 10 percent international student population offering leadership advocacy and exemplary services,” Lamadanie said. “We are very excited about the future of our program, because there are so many opportunities for growth.”
