GRAMBLING, LA – January 24, 2019 – Today, Grambling State University announced CNN Commentator and history-making South Carolina Legislator, Bakari Sellers will keynote the University’s Black History Convocation at 11:00 a.m. on February 19, 2019.

Sellers, an HBCU graduate, is well-known for making history in 2006 when, at just 22 years old, he defeated a 26-year incumbent State Representative to become the youngest member of the South Carolina State Legislature and the youngest African American elected official in the nation. This week, Louisiana’s Public Service Commissioner Foster Campbell Awarded  $750,000 in energy efficiency grants, including $462,508 for initiatives at Grambling State.

“Energy Efficiency is a cost-effective way to reduce energy costs, improve building comfort and preserve our environment,” Campbell said. “Every dollar that our local governments and public bodies save on their electric bills is a dollar that can help them improve service to the public.”

Grambling State University Unveils New Digital Library Design

New Facility to Deliver 50,000 Square Feet of Student and Community Information Space

GRAMBLING, LA – January 31, 2019 – Today, Grambling State University revealed designs for a new digital library that will add more than 50,000 square feet of learning space to the University, City of Grambling, and North Louisiana community.

“We see this new facility as an information beacon on a hill,” said President Rick Gallot of Grambling State. “We are grateful to the students, University of Louisiana System, the Board of Regents, our Governor and the legislators who are collaborating to make this vision a reality for our campus.”

GRAMBLING, LA – December 3, 2018 – Today, the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA) announced that Grambling State University will host the 2019 and 2020 Football National Championships at the historic Eddie G. Robinson Memorial Stadium.

GRAMBLING, LA — November 15, 2018 — Grambling State University set a new record winning top honors in five categories at the 2018 HBCUGrow LEAD Awards – including recognition for President Rick Gallot in the best leadership category for the second consecutive year.

“When I was appointed President, Dr. Dan Reneau told me it was our generation’s time to be the leadership this University needs,” said President Gallot. “It’s amazing to be recognized with Dr. Kimbrough, who is uncontestably one of America’s best leaders in higher education.”

The Best Leadership award is given to an active president of a historically black college and university at the HBCUGrow Lead Conference; one of the country’s fastest-growing university leadership training events.

This and Grambling State’s other recognitions follow just one week after the University raised a record $1.3 million in its 2018 Bring it Home fundraising campaign. Other recent successes include, an approval to offer Louisiana’s first bachelor’s degree in Cybersecurity and a 100 percent increase in the University’s fiscal health.

“It is a great time for Grambling State,” said Marc Newman, VP for Advancement, Research, and Economic Development. “From our faculty and students to every team member and sponsor, there’s a collective effort to move forward. It’s an honor to have our progress recognized by our peers.”

Winners were selected in several categories based on peer nominations and input and data reviews by a panel of judges.  This year’s categories included LEAD Innovation, LEAD Marketing, LEAD Website, LEAD Military-Friendly and Best Leadership.
