Grambling, LA – Grambling State University’s Head Women’s Basketball Coach Nadine Domond is being recognized for her accomplishments over the past academic year, which has set her program and the campus apart, among a grand collection of achievements at historically black colleges and universities nationwide. Coach Domond is among the finalist for the 2016 HBCU Awards.

In June, the academy of voters will cast ballots to select this year’s winners. The academy is comprised of previous winners, HBCU presidents and chancellors, faculty, students, alumni and reporters covering HBCUs nationwide. The voting period lasts for 48 hours, and all votes determine the sole finalist for each category.

The awards ceremony, presented by the University of the District of Columbia, will be held on July 15 beginning at 7:30 p.m. on the UDC campus. Tickets are available for purchase at hbcumediainstitute.eventbrite.com, but are limited.

The purpose of the awards ceremony is to give HBCUs an opportunity for national exposure in key areas of campus performance.

Coach Domond and GSU’s Lady Tiger Basketball Team finished the basketball season with an 11-4 conference recore. Under Domond’s leadership GSU’s Jazmin Boyd was named SWAC Freshman of the Year. The lady tigers point guard Shakyla Hill was named the Louisiana Sports Writers Association Women’s Basketball Freshman of the Year and third team all-state by vote of the state’s media representatives and university media relation’s directors. It wasn’t just the players who were honored this year; Coach Domond was named SWAG Woman’s Coach of the Year.

Congratulations Coach Nadine Domond for being a finalist for the 2016 HBCU Awards.
