Grambling Interim President Cynthia Warrick Decides Not to Seek Permanent Presidency

After long and thoughtful consideration, Interim President Dr. Cynthia Warrick has decided not to apply for the permanent position of President at Grambling State University.

“While I am confident that my work during this important transition has made a positive impact at Grambling; I have decided that I will honor my agreement with the Registry not to apply for the permanent position,” Warrick said.

Dr. Warrick went on to say, “I have embraced this opportunity as an honor and as long as I am here at Grambling, I will continue to use my time and energy to work on the initiatives I have started to make the university its best.  I truly believe in Grambling, its students, faculty, and staff; so I hope everyone will continue to work with me to ensure its future growth and success.”

During Warrick’s six-month tenure as interim president, she streamlined administrative operations; implemented aggressive student recruitment strategies; established relationships with local, state, regional and national legislative and governmental representatives to support program and funding initiatives; developed matching fund relationships with private sector industries and organizations raising more than $470,000 in donations; and opened new channels of communication.

University of Louisiana System President Sandra K. Woodley acknowledged Warrick’s decision and offered her continued support.

“These are challenging times for Grambling and all of higher education.  Dr. Warrick’s leadership has been instrumental in putting the University on a path to success by making the tough decisions needed to affect positive change.  I am grateful for the difficult and sometimes unpopular decisions made by Dr. Warrick that I believe will pay dividends long after this transition is over. Grambling’s next president will certainly benefit from her hard work and dedication,” said Woodley.
