The forum, one stop on a two-day North Louisiana tour, is part of  Dr. Reed’s ongoing outreach to connect with the students, campuses, and education leaders throughout the state.

“We believe that Dr. Kim Hunter Reed is uniquely positioned to lead Louisiana Higher Education into the future,” said Louisiana Board of Regents Chair Robert W. Levy in a release announcing Dr. Reed’s appointment.

“It’s critical that we talk about the importance of making sure more people have access to good education and training,” said Dr. Reed.

At the event, to be held at the historic Eddie G. Robinson Museum, students and professors will get to connect and share their perspectives directly with Commissioner Reed.

“It’s an incredible honor to have Commissioner Reed on our campus listening to the students and faculty who are leading our innovation and success,” said President Rick Gallot of Grambling State. “We know that we have great support throughout our state and it is always an honor to personally share our gratitude and feedback.”

Prior to her appointment as Louisiana’s 9th Commissioner of Higher Education, Dr. Reed served as Executive Director of the Colorado Department of Higher Education. Her experience also includes serving in President Barack Obama’s administration as Deputy Undersecretary at the U.S. Department of Education, leading postsecondary diversity and inclusion work.

“Coffee with the Commissioner,” Tuesday’s forum event, will kick off promptly at 7:30 a.m. For questions or inquiries related to Dr. Reed’s visit, email mediarelations@gram.edu.
