As we kick off a new fiscal year and prepare for the return of our students for the fall, I would like you to join me in welcoming these new Tiger leaders across campus.

Ms. Tanisha Cousby, our new Director of Campus Living & Housing, brings to us more than 15 years of HBCU student life expertise. Beginning her career as a student worker at GSU, she has served as a student life leader for Barnes and Noble, the Southern University System, and our own office of housing where she began her full-time career. 

 

Mrs. Phranses Williams, Director of Budget and Financial Planning

Mrs. Phranses Williams, our new Director of Budget and Financial Planning, is an expert account, financial analyst, and operations leader. Her work with leading companies throughout the southeast includes championing financial success for Price Waterhouse, ORC Macro, and the corporate offices of The Home Depot and Johnson Controls. An alumna of Grambling State and graduate of the University of Notre Dame’s Mendoza College of Business, we are excited to welcome her home to the GramFam. 

 

Gilberto Alvarado, Director of Admissions

Gilberto Alvarado, our new Director of Admissions, brings to the Tiger team more than 25 years in admissions, enrollment management, and both academic and career advising experience. His previous work helping schools in North Carolina and Florida has included serving as the Vice President of the North Carolina Adult Education Association; driving admissions success for fellow HBCU Fayetteville State University and the University of North Carolina and serving in the U.S. Army. Mr. Alvarado is a native of Panama, grew up in Miami, Florida, and graduated from Fayetteville State University and the University of North Carolina at Pembroke. 

 

Dr. Jacqueline Garrison, Assoc. Dean of the School of Social Work

Dr. Jacqueline Garrison is the new Associate Dean of the School of Social Work and an Assistant Professor. She has a BSW and MSW from Grambling State as well as a Doctor of Social Work from Capella University. Dr. Garrison has been employed by Grambling State since September 2003, serving as the Title IV-E Child Welfare Director, prior to this appointment. In addition to holding the responsibility of writing and coordinating the Title IV-E Child Welfare Grant, she has played an integral role in recruiting and training students, both at the undergraduate and graduate level, to work in the field of Child Welfare in Louisiana.
