SUNDAY, JANUARY 6, 2008
8:00 am – 5:00 pm
Residence Hall Check-In
- Students who COMPLETED and RETURNED the housing application form and a deposit should report to their assigned residential hall as stated in their Assignment Letter from the University’s Department of Housing and Residential Life.
- Students who NEITHER COMPLETED the housing application form NOR SUBMITTED a deposit payment must report to the Tiger Village Club House.
1:00 pm – 4:00 pm
Cashier’s: To receive payments for Tuition and Fees – Long Jones
Hall.
Financial Aid: To provide information and address questions from parents and students – Lee Hall.
4:30 pm – 6:00 pm
Dinner – RFOC (McCall Dining Hall)
MONDAY, JANUARY 7, 2008
9:00 am – 9:45 am
New Student Orientation Session: Provides all new students with Orientation
Packets which contain the orientation-week schedule, registration information,
campus map, key contacts, historical milestones at Grambling State University,
etc. (Attendance: Mandatory) – Favrot Student Union—Black &
Gold Room.
10:00 am – 10:45 am
Opening Program: Provides students with an overview of the University’s
academic programs. (Attendance: Mandatory) – Favrot Student Union—Black
& Gold Room.
11:00 am – 11:30 am
Departmental Orientation Sessions: Students who have declared a major will
report to their respective departments for an orientation session, which
will be conducted by the Department Head. Students who have not declared
a major should remain in the Black & Gold Room for their orientation
session (Attendance: Mandatory).
11:45 am – 12:15 pm
Campus Tour by the Office of Admissions and the New Student Orientation
Leaders – (Meet in front of the Favrot Student Union Building).
Noon – 12:30 pm
Parents’ Meet and Greet (Parents Only) – Favrot Student Union
— Room 242.
1:00 pm – 5:00 pm
Registration Process: (Step 1) Financial Aid, (STEP 2) Academic Advisement,
(STEP 3) Tuition & Fees, and (STEP 4) Meal Card/ID Cards.
5:30 pm & 7:30 pm
Basketball Games: Grambling State University vs. Alabama A&M University:
Lady Tigers game -- 5:30 PM & Tigers Game – 7:30 PM (Attendance:
optional) – GSU Assembly Center.
TUESDAY, JANUARY 8, 2008
9:00 am – 4:00 pm
The Registration Process continues for those students that have not completed
registration.
WEDNESDAY, JANUARY 9, 2008
9:00 am – 11:30 am
Student Tour of the GSU Learning/Resource Centers:
- Library -- A.C. Lewis Memorial Library (9:00 AM)
- Student Computer Laboratories -- Brown Hall*
- Student Computer Laboratories -- Jacob T. Stewart Hall*
- Art Gallery -- Dunbar Hall*
- Favrot Student Union – Favrot Student Union Building*
*Students will tour these areas individually. Please refer to your campus map in the Orientation Packet for location of buildings.
